Uploading to LotW and Synchronizing with LotW from a PC not connected to the internet

If your PC is not connected to the Internet but you have access to an onternet connection from another PC, check the PC has no internet connection box on the QSL Configuration window's LotW tab. The sections below describe how the "internet-connected" Uploading QSOs to LotW and Obtaining New Confirmations from LotW procedures are modified when the PC has no internet connection box is checked.

Uploading QSOs to LotW

  1. open the Main window's Log QSOs tab

    1. In the Filter panel, click the X button so that all QSOs in your log are visible in the Log Page Display

  2. open the Main window's QSL tab

    1. set the QSL via panel to LotW -- if LotW is disabled (greyed-out), the QSL Queue already contains QSOs and must be cleared before you can proceed (either by completing the operation that populated the QSL Queue, or by clicking the Clear button)

    2. click the Add Requested button -- this will populate the QSL Queue with all QSOs never uploaded to LotW

    3. if you have defined more than one Station Location, check the Station Location shown immediately below the Upload to LotW button to be sure it's consistent with the QSOs you're about to upload; if not, select the correct Station Location

    4. click the Prep LotW upload button -- this will automatically

      1. create a temporary ADIF file containing information from all QSOs in the QSL Queue

      2. invoke the TQSL application to create a temporary file containing an encrypted version of the information contained in the ADIF file

      3. display the name of the ADIF file so you can move it to an Internet-connected PC and upload it to LotW

      4. after the upload succeeds, click the Update Log button; DXKeeper will then perform the following for each enabled entry in the QSL Queue:

        • set the associated QSO's LOTW_QSL_SENT item to U (for uploaded)

        • set the associated QSO's LotW QSL Sent date item to the current UTC date

        • set the associated QSO's LotW rcvd item to R

        • remove the entry from the QSL Queue
    5. after an hour or two (or longer on contest weekends), click the Sync LotW QSOs button; DXKeeper will display a URL for you to paste into a web browser on an internet-connected PC, and direct you to move the resulting downloaded file -- containing a list of all uploaded QSOs that have been accepted by LotW since you last clicked the Sync LotW QSOs button -- to a specified pathname on your PC. When you click the OK button, DXKeeper will process the query results as if they had been directly downloaded from LotW by setting the LOTW_QSL_SENT item of each accepted QSO to Y

    6. on the Main window, select the Log QSOs tab and click the LotW button in the Filter panel; this will filter the Log Page Display to show only QSOs whose LOTW_QSL_SENT item remains U; such QSOs either

      1. have not yet been processed by the LotW server, perhaps because its busy or down for maintenance; wait a couple of hours, and click the Sync LotW QSOs button again

      2. have been rejected by LotW because information is missing or inconsistent (for example, a QSO containing a mode not accepted by LotW will be rejected); to ascertain the status of your uploaded QSOs, see below.
    7. if clicking the LotW button in the Filter panel shows no QSOs in the Log Page Display, then all uploaded QSOs have been accepted by LotW, and you should proceed to the Obtaining New Confirmations from LotW section below

If one or more uploaded QSOs are not accepted by LotW within a reasonable interval, determine why and take corrective action.

Obtaining New Confirmations from LotW

  1. open the Main window's QSL tab

  2. set the QSL via panel to LotW -- if LotW is disabled (greyed-out), the QSL Queue already contains QSOs and must be cleared before you can proceed (either by completing the operation that populated the QSL Queue, or by clicking the Clear button)

  3. click the Sync LotW QSLs button; DXKeeper will display a URL for you to paste into a web browser on an internet-connected PC, and direct you to move the resulting downloaded file -- containing all QSOs confirmed by LotW since you last clicked the Sync LotW QSLs button -- to a specified pathname on your PC. When you click the OK button, DXKeeper will process the query results as if they had been directly downloaded from LotW by

    • setting each newly-confirmed QSO's LOTW_QSL_RCVD item to Y

    • displaying a report file showing how many new QSLs were received, and indicating whether any DXCC entities, entity-bands, and/or entity-modes were newly confirmed by this operation.
    • filtering the Log Page Display to contain only QSOs confirmed via LotW, and sort it so that the most recently-conformed QSOs appear at the bottom
